Chidambaram Tamil Nadu India Travel

Chidambaram’s great temple complex of Nataraja, the dancing Shiva, is a Dravidian architectural highlight and one of the holiest Shiva sites in South India. Chidambaram can be visited as a day trip from Puducherry, or as a stopover between Puducherry and Kumbakonam or Trichy.

Of the many festivals, the two largest are the 10-day chariot festivals, which are celebrated in April/May and December/January. In February/March the five-day Natyanjali Dance Festival attracts performers from all over the country to celebrate Nataraja – the Lord of Dances.
