Douchui Mountain is the most famous Danxia topography in Sichuan Province. Douchui Mountain earned this name by its appearance which looks like a Chui (a kind of container used for foodstuff storage). In Tang Dynasty, an officer from Zhangming County Government, Dou Ziming, who was in charge of the literature and art, had ever cultivated himself according to the Tao religious doctrine at Douchui. He ascended into the heaven, so from then on people called this mountain Douchui (Dou is the family name of Dou Ziming and chui is a kind of container used for foodstuff storage). The special peaks, exciting ropeway, ancient temple and various tourism projects attract lots of tourists home and abroad. The fairy poet, Li Po, had visited here in his early years and left a piece of quatrain known throughout the ages. The wood cutter and cultivator are in the beautiful picture. Douchui Mountain is in a round shape and extends from south to north, 2.8 kilometers long and 1.68 kilometers wide, occupying 4.7 square kilometers with the elevation of 1,140 meters, 540 meters in other relative positions. In 1956, Douchui Mountain Feitian Zang, which is eight hundred years old, was selected to be the first group of provincial Cultural Relics Preservation. In Douchui Mountain there are 10-tourism regions, 28 scenic spots. Yunyan Temple is the state-level Cultural Relics Preservation. Tuan Mountain iron rope is the best one in China. The ropeway is safe and comfortable. About 223 round stone sculptures of the emperors in the past dynasties is also the No.1 in China.
Yunyan Temple
Yunyan Temple was found in Qianfu Period in Tang Dynasty (874-879), lying on the mountain and facing a deep valley, so powerful and grande. Witnessed the ups and downs of many feudal dynasties of Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing and fought with the Taoism, now the temple is a spectacular ancient architecture group in China. The buildings combine the characteristics of Buddhism and Taoism. The east buildings belong to Buddhism and the west to Taoism. The ancient buildings and culture of Buddhism and Taoism mix together harmoniously. Feitian Zang (also named Star Ju, Zang in Chinese means a place for Taoism to store the books but carry a strong Buddhism characteristics) is found in South Song Dynasty, Chunxi period (1180). The building is complicated decorated with flying dragon. The wood-carved Taoism Figures on Feitian Zang are vivid and well kept, which is the oldest wooden Zang in China and is the soul of the Douchui Mountain culture. In 1988, Feitian Zang is selected to be the state-level cultural relic. There are three lonely stone peaks behind the temple connected by iron ropes, which were originally built in Tang Dynasty. The existing iron ropes were built in Qing Dynasty, during the rule of emperor Yongzhen, which is one of the wonders in history of Chinese bridges building. The iron rope bridge is 50 meters above the land surface. Walking on the iron rope bridge just like walking in the clouds.
