The name of Qixia (pronounced as Kitsya) Mountain, also called “She
Mountain”, was originated from the name of a house “QiXia Temple” in the mountain
in the South Dynasty. There are three peaks called Feng Xiang (Phoenix Flying) Peak,
Long(dragon) Peak and Hu(Tiger) Peak respectively by the animal-like shape.
QiXia Temple in QiXia Mountain, which is the biggest one in Nanjing District, is
located in the west of middle peak. It is the cradle of the Buddhism School of The Three Sastras. Here you can visit some typical Buddhism architectures and know the history of Buddhism.
QiXia Temple is so famous not only for the temple, the stone sculpture and the dagoba, but also for the clear spring, luxuriant plants , especially the red leaves of maple trees. So it is a popular destination for the tourists during spring and autumn.
