The elevation is 1711.8m, 1350m at the foot, and the relative height is 362m. The volcanic eruption in the early phase might occur between the late Tertiary Period and the early Quaternary Period, with a wide diameter at the lower part of the cone and a break west of the crater. The other crater formed by the second eruption lies to the east, and the slopes outside the new cone and the old one are apparently not consistent, with a annular terrace between them. Also taking the shape of hoof with a west break, the new cone owns a semicircle crater and many steep walls sloping 50°–60° which have already been covered by forests. At the foot of the mountain lie the black lava basins and the stone sea formed by lava sediments. And on the west and south are the barriar lakes, such as Da’erbin Lake, Dujuan Lake, Xianhe Lake and Luming Lake. Being the most typical and highest cone of eastern Inner Mongolia, Motian Forest cone together with other cones around, lava current and barriar lakes makes up the whole scenery of volcanical lava landform, which is of high value for study and admiration. The elevation of Motian Forest cone ranks the 4th, only after Ka’erdaxi cone (4900m) of northern Tibet, Baitoushan cone (2749.2m) of Changbai Mountains and Dayan Mountain cone (2595m) of Tengchong county, while its cone hight is 361m, ranking the 2nd only after Baitoushan.
