Brief-introduction:
The house is a very common farmhouse built with mud bricks and tiles by Mao Zedong’s father, Mao Shunsheng. It has 13 rooms, and Mao Zedong was born here on 26th, December, 1893 and then spent his childhood and boyhood here. In 1929, it was expropriated and damaged by Kuomingtang government. In 1950, it was repaired according to its original appearance. In those years, part of protoplast and photos were exhibited in the room where Mao Zedong was born, the sanctum and his parents’ rooms. In 1964, new Mao Zedong’s former house museum was built.
Walk through the main room of the former house, turn right, come in the right wing-room, then bedroom. Between the corridor and dead stock room, you can see Mao Zedong’s family photo, daily household utensils, various dead stocks and photos and materials displaying Mao Zedong’s engagement in the revolutionary activities, and the exhibits include shoulder poles, pails and hoes used by Mao Zedong during his boyhood. The furnishings in the rooms are all collocated in accord with the original appearance as Mao Zedong lived here.
