The Forest Park was originally the experimental forest farm of the Forestry Scientific Research Institute of Guizhou. In April 1960, when Premier Zhou Enlai came to Guizhou for inspection, he found there were many verdant tree species on this forest farm and suggested it should be rebuilt to be a forest park so that more people could enjoy it. Now in the park, the forest with numerous tree species stretches miles, giving its cool shade to everything; mountain springs flow slowly and leisurely; exotic birds can be found singing now and then; green grass and fragrant flowers often meet the eye. No wonder the Forest Park is reputed as one of the eight famous scenic spots in Guiyang and ranked as the first largest urban forest park in China.
