The Maomao Cave Historical Site (belong to the later part of the Paleolithic age), was found in the Maomao Mountain, north of Xinyi county. The digging of the site started in 1975 and to date more than 4,000 pieces of stone wares have been unearthed, most of which were made of gallets and used for hacking and scratching.
