Built in the 2nd year of Xuantong period in Qing Dynasty, Batuan Wind and Rain Bridge is 50 m long and 4.5 m wide, 30.4 m between abutments, consisting of 2 arches, 2 abutments, 1 pier and 3 pavilions. The floor of the bridge can be divided into pedestrian and animal ways, the later hanging on the side of the bridge, which is separated from the former in a different layer. It has something common with modern double-layer flyover though in different approaches. Same as Chengyang Yongji Bridge, its pedestrian way is constructed by two layers of brackets consisting of 9 round logs, whose diameter is about 40 cm, and beams between brackets of the same material and connection approach. As for its animal way, it subtly hangs on the southern side of the pedestrian way (the upper reach of the river), a layer of bracket is floored by a layer of crossbeams, same as the pedestrian way in structure. The part for people is wider and more than half a meter higher than the part for cattle, which is no more than 2 m wide. Two parts are separated with board, which ensures the part for people clean and free from dirty things like cattle feces. Because of its original function design, experts praised Batuan Wind and Rain Bridge as a model of folk bridge architecture, unique in all times and in all over the world. The bridge lays stress on making use of landform and existing conditions. Since there is only one southward passage on the western bank of the bridge but two, one eastward another northward, on the eastern bank, craftsmen established two entrances at the end of eastern bank and built a bridge house to connect the two entrances. As for the western bank, the southern entrance, along the passage, and the bridge axis form a corner of 80°; a gateway stands in the front, under the shelter of tens of towering old pines, blending into the scenery and Dong village, which form a charming landscape picture.
