Whitehorse
Flowing green canyon rivers, eagles cruising above, beavers slapping their tails and you‘re walking along a hill colored with purple fireweed, only minutes away from Whitehorse, the Wilderness City. Nature rests on all sides and the Yukon River runs straight though town.
Whitehorse was settled in the traditional territory of two First Nations?the Kwanlin Dun and the Ta’an Kwach’an?and boasts a vibrant arts and cultural community.

You can attend the world’s third largest storytelling festival or cheer on the teams in the Yukon Quest, a 1,000 mile international sled dog race.
Less than a hundred years ago, the river, not roads, was the way around the Yukon. Today you can still raft, canoe and kayak, hike or bike wilderness trails around the capital city or step back in time aboard the S.S. Klondike. Wander up from the riverfront to MacBride Museum for gold panning and beadwork or face mammoths and saber toothed-tigers at the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre. Flightsee or go horseback riding for a few hours, then use Whitehorse as your base to the North. Once you meet the mushers, artists, entrepreneurs and local characters, you’ll have your own stories to tell.
