Key West Florida. The great peninsula of Florida extends over 400 miles south from the eastern seacoast of North America. Below its southern tip, a curved archipelago, consisting of thousands of small islands and coral reefs, stretches another two hundred miles south and west. It helps to form a great natural barrier between the South Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
Cocoa Beach Florida. Cocoa Beach, Florida is located along the Atlantic Coast less than 50 miles (85km) due east of Disney World. You can drive from the amusement parks in Orlando to this beach in less than one hour. It is the closest ocean beach to all the Orlando amusement attractions including Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World. Cape Canaveral lies just to the north of Cocoa Beach and the city of Melbourne is just south of it.
Florida. Florida, the “Sunshine State”, is located on a large peninsula at the southern extreme of the eastern coast of the United States. It is just over 1000 miles (1.650 km) south of New York City. This flat sandy spit of land is approximately 100 miles (165 km) wide by 400 miles (660 km) long. It has nearly 400 miles (660 km) of eastern shoreline with sandy beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and and over 600 miles (1.000 km) of sandy beaches bordering the Gulf of Mexico on its western side. It is blessed with a very hospitable semi-tropical climate that offers hot rainy summers, mild winters and near ideal spring and fall temperatures. It is, however, subject to the threat of tropical storms and hurricanes during the late summer and fall.
