Cooks Hill

One of the inner city suburbs of Newcastle, Cooks Hill is most renowned for the popular ‘eat street’ – Darby Street. Darby Street has approximately 25 restaurants and Cafes – enjoy alfresco dining, buzzy cafes and some great lively pubs. Cooks Hill is also home to a number of inner city art galleries. Tanilba Bay

Located west of Port Stephens the activities you can do are tour Tanilba House which was built back in the 1800 it is open on Wednesday and Sundays from 10:30am to 4:30pm and by appointment other days. Also you go on a guided koala walks through the bushland that shows koalas in their natural habitat and also there is a shopping centre that over the past few years has become very popular to shop. Down on the waterfront there is different water sports you can enjoy such as swimming or water skiing. You can enjoy a family picnic on the water front and enjoy the great scenery while the kids play in the playground .

Holbrook

Holbrook is a rural town of some 1500 people south-west of Sydney. Within driving distance to the Murray River and Dora Dora State Forest, Holbrook is an ideal stopover for people travelling from Melbourne to Sydney. Holbrook, once named Germantown, is in the centre of a productive pastoral district. The renaming of the town came about during the First World War when the strong anti-German feelings required by law the renaming of the town. The township was renamed Holbrook in honour of Lt. Holbrook who carried out an extraordinary act of bravery against a Turkish Warship. The town proudly displays a collection of submarines including the B11, of 1914 Dardenelles fame and HMAS Otway, a 90-metre submarine. Holbrook has an ever increasing array of interesting retail outlets including Cafes, Antiques, Curios as well as more necessary items. The Woolpack Inn Museum has a wonderful collection of historical items displayed in a former hotel on the Highway, and with a wonderful collection of transport vehicles, a working blacksmith forge, a former cordial factory and more. The Holbrook Races are held the first weekend in April each year, and attracting thousands of visitors to town as part of the Holbrook Festival. Holbrook is also the centrepiece of one of the most successful Landcare programs in Australia.

Forster

Tea Gardens

Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest is situated in the southern end of the Great Lakes area, it approximately 2 1/2 hours drive north of Sydney, off the Pacific Hwy. The twin towns of Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest are separated by the Myall River that feeds the magestic Myall Lakes system. The towns are connected by the “Singing” bridge, aptly named fron the sound of the wind as it passes through the rails. The area is a haven for the nature lover with fishing, bushwalking, camping and dolphin watching all popular pursuits. Houseboating on the Mayll Lakes is a relaxing and scenic way to pass your time away, there is plenty of secluded areas in this vast expanse of water so you can always find your own little piece of paradise. Hawks Nest is also the home to a Koala colony, where Koalas can be seen and enjoyed in their natural habitat. Off the coast of Hawks Nest is Broughton Island, popular for deep sea fishing and diving, part of the Myall Lakes National Park, the island is ideal for bushwalking and picnics.
