The highly visible Jain community – the devout of whom follow a disciplined path towards moksha (liberation) – are largely responsible for Gujarat’s industrious reputation, stunning white marble temples, and exquisite, ever-so-slightly sweet vegetarian fare (and prohibition laws!).
