Yuquan Temple lies in the north of Mount Tai. Another name of it is Gushan Temple; people usually call it “Foye Temple”. It is about 20 kilometers from the downtown area of Tai’an, and 30 kilometers from the downtown area of Jinan. The forest in this scenic spot is flourishing and the valleys are long and clear. People can see ancient trees everywhere.
Yuquan Temple was constructed by the monks of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-535), reestablished in the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234), in the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368), Pujin restored it. It is a famous temple in Mount Tai, when it is prosperous, the number of monks here reached to 500. There are many scenic spots in Yuquan Temple, such as four maidenhair trees planted in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Daxiong Hall, Yimu Pine Tree, East and West Footprints of Buddha and figure of Buddha built in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-535).
