There are more than 100 steles in Xichang Earthquake Steles. On these steles, the earthquake conditions of Xichang city, Mianning County, Ganluo County, Ningnan County are recoded. What is more, the time, areas, hurt and dead situations of people and cattle, the situations of destroyed buildings in the 15th year of Jiajing, Ming Dynasty(the year of 1536), the 10th year of Yongzheng, Qing Dynasty(the year of 1732), the 30th year of Daoguang, Qing Dynasty( the year of 1850)were kept. Xichang is situated on the earthquake zone of Anning River and Zemu River. This is the main earthquake zone in Southwest China. Strong earthquakes had happened for several times in the history. The Xichang Earthquake Steles gives us a good evidence of earthquakes researching in Xichang area. It is not only a good place to visit, it is also a good researching place for the earthquake scientists.
