Brief introduction of the scenic spot:
The Wuzhishan Mountain has heaving peaks in the shape of sawtooth like five fingers, whence came its name. The second finger of the five fingers is the highest peak, which has a height of 1876 meters above sea level and is more than three hundred meters higher than the Tai Mountain, the head of the Five Famous Mountains.
Overlooking the Wuzhishan Mountain, you will see nothing but a mountain like five fingers of a human stretching into the sky, which is a very magnificent sight. Standing on the top of the mountain and overlooking the South Sea, you will see the boundless green waves are dotted with white sailboats and the water and the sky merge in one color, which will haunt the imagination of tourists. There are layers upon layers of tropical primitive forest in the mountain, in which there are all sorts of beasts and birds. The main rivers of Hainan all originate from the Wuzhishan Mountain. Hence, there are many mountain springs and lakes here, which add beauty to the large mountain. No doubt it is the place with the greatest adventure significance in the Hainan Island. Tourists can climb “the first finger” and “the second finger”. Wandering among the deep mountains and old forests of the Wuzhishan Mountain, you feel very well.
Legend:
In the past, there is no Wuzhishan Mountain but a plain on the Hainan Island. On this plain, there lived a couple who have five sons. The seven people work hard all day, but they could only open up half a mu of wasteland. One night, the husband dreamed a grey-bearded who gave directions to him and helped him find a treasure hoe and a treasure sword in the soil and turn the wasteland into a fertile land. On his death bed, he told his sons to take good care of the land. After he died, the five sons followed their father’s will and buried the treasure sword with him. When an evil man called Yawei heard of it, he sent several hundred people here, killed the mother and captured the five sons. They forced them to surrender the treasure sword and baked them with fire. The tears they shed turned the plain into five streams. After they died, bears, leopards, white ants, poisonous bees and evil birds came from all directions in groups and bit Yawei and sea robbers into death. They moved large quantities of earth and large rocks, buried the bodies of the five sons and piled them into five high mountains. Since then, in order to remember these five sons, people call this mountain Wuzishan Mountain. Later, since the Wuzishan Mountain stands erect like five fingers, people also call it “Wuzhishan Mountain”.

The mixture of the fragrance of rice and the smell of bamboo makes it more mellow and delicious.

Directions to climbing the mountain:After getting to the Wuzhishan stockaded village, walk northeastwards and you will find a small path. Walk for about three minutes and you will see an open space and a two-storey building. Below the woods near the house, there lies a small path. Moving down inside along the small path (taking no turns), you will get to a flagged path, at end of which you will see a yellow iron board. Beside it, there is a small path up the mountain. Walking along this path, you will reach the first peak and second peak of the Wuzhishan Mountain. The round trip takes about four hours to six hours.
Entertainment:Drifting:The water gate of the Wuzhishan reservoir is the starting point of drifting. The mountainous region where drifting is conducted is called Maoyang Mountain by the local people and the river called Maoyang River. The elevation of drifting is 800 meters. The terminal is a village of the Li people. Drifting time: 9:00~16:00?Drifting expenses 180 yuan/person
The best season for drifting is from July to October.
The best time for traveling:From November to April of the next year; it is best to avoid the rainy season from May to October. During the rainy season, the paths of the Wuzhishan Mountain are too slippery to walk on and there are an unusual number of mountain leeches.
