Yangtze River Bridge which is a dual-use bridge with two-layer two-lane road and rail is designed by our own country and built in December 29, 1968.
The bridge is so great for its splendor. The upper layer is 4589-meter long and 15-meter wide, which makes it possible to allow 4 vehicles to drive altogether.
Besides, there are 2-meter wide sidewalk each side; While the under layer is 6772-meter long and 14-meter wide, where two trains can move face to face by the double tracks. For the 9 piers, the highest one is 85-meter high, covering about 4oo square meters, which is bigger than a basketball court. Furthermore, the span of aperture of bridge can reach 160-meter wide. All the above can show the marvelous bridge in history of China or around the world.
Another feature of the bridge is delicacy. 200 steel relief sculptures, 150 pairs lights with the shape of Yunlan flower, 70-meter high bridge towers and the beautiful park under the bridge, all these make Yangtze River Bridge a pearl along the river.
