Kunyu Mountain lies across Yantai and Weihai, its highest peak called Taibo peak with elevation of 920 meters is the highest peak in the east peninsula. Towering peaks, continuous ridges, tall ancient trees, clear springs and flying falls, culture relics and historic sites spread all over the range of several hundred around.
Kunyu Mountain is a famous Mountain with aboundant culture resources. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period, emperor Yingzheng(the first empror of Qing Dynasty) came to Kunyu Mountain three times in his southern inspection to look for Elixir. Later, Emperor WuDi in the XiHan Dynasty reached the hinterland of Kunyu Mountain for the same purpose. Kunyu Mountain attracted innumberable kings and princes, scholars, painters, calligraphers, monks, Taoist to compose poems, bring up inscripts, build huts. All of these created full-bodied culture in Kunyu Mountain and made it a natural culture treasure. There are cultural relics in the Mountain including stone inscription named ‘Yongkang’ of Han Dynasty, inscriptions ‘decree stele’ and ‘Yizhi Stele’ named by kings of Jin and Yuan Dynasty, copper stele, stone archives of Qiu Chuji.
