Helatula Castle is located in Yongling County of Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County in Liaoning Province. It is five kilometers away from Qingshui Mausoleum, the nationally designated key cultural relic under protection with world importance. Helatula in fact is form Manchu Language and it means Henggang, in other words, a small hummock with a flat top. Constructed in 1603 (the 31st ruling year of Ming dynasty), Hetuala Castle is an ancient city of 400 years. In 1616, the first day of the first month in the 44th ruling year of Ming dynasty according to Chinese lunar calendar, Nu’erhachi ascent the throne and then ushered in the era of Jin which is later called Late Jin dynasty. The eighth year of Tiancong emperor in Jin dynasty (1634) was phrased by Hungtaiji, a later emperor, as Tianjuanxingjing (means it is the favor of God to have Nu’erhachi establish his throne”. Nu’erhachi Castle becomes well-known not only because it is the birthplace of Nu’erhachi, the forefather of Qing dynasty, but because it used to be the capital of the number one powerful empire.
