Guiqing Mountain is located in a limestone belt with ridges and peaks, grotesque rocks and about 500 kinds of medicinal plants and ornamentals in the 32,000-mu-large (1 mu equals 0.0667 hectare) virgin forest. Guiqing Mountain is 2,340 meters high. Zhongfeng Temple situated in the mountain was built during Longqing Reign (1567-1573) of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). There are several halls in the temple, such as the Hall of Buddha (Tathagata), the Hall of God Xuanwu and Yama’s Palace (Yama is the King of Hell) and 32 lifelike statues of Buddha. Other scenic areas include Guiqing Fairyland, West Pool and Longchuan River at the foot of the mountain.
It is also a marvelous trip to walk along the gorge and appreciate the picturesque cloud-capped peaks and the rare birds and animals on both sides of the streams.
