The mausoleum was built in 1954 and is one of the key cultural relics under national protection. In memory of Genghis Khan’s glorious life, this magnificent mausoleum was built as eye-catching. The corpus buildings of the mausoleum are the three yurt type big palaces, there is a statue of Genghis Khan which is about 5 meters in height inside of the main palace; there are three bedchambers which are yurts covered with yellow damask. In the west palace weapons Genghis Khan once used were displayed.very 21st of March in the Chinese lunar calendar there is the grand Spring Consecration. People would gather from everywhere here to join this significant event by providing sacrificial offering, etc. This is very and solemn and impressive. Afterwards there would be the traditional sports events like horse-back racing, toxophily, wrestling, etc. On the walls of the corridor connecting the two side palaces there are lots of mural paintings describing all the major events in Genghis Khan’s
