Cypress Mountain, which is adjacent to Bayin River in the west and No. 315 National Highway in the east, provides a natural protective screen for Delingha City, and protects the pearl of plateau like a strong warrior. Endowed with picturesque scenery and attractive environment, Cypress Mountain is a perfect spot for tourists. Seen from a long distance, the cypresses are standing unyieldingly, the lush greenery of the grass is beyond our vision. When you have climbed up the hill, you will be moved by the precipitous cliffs, deep channels and green grass. Everywhere in the mountain is a natural grazing land, which presents you beautiful and boundless greenery.
The waterfalls in Cypress Mountain are even more picturesque and well-known. Clear spring water pours down from the knife-sharpened cliff, and then bumps into the bottom like piles of pearls. The pouring water create in the bottom of the cliff a large rippling pool, which is green in color and makes a perfect match with the colors of the sky and the mountain. Behind the water, there is a huge cave. When sitting in the cave, the pouring waterfall creates a silver curtain, just as the “water curtain cave” in Monkey King. In the thriving cypress forest, there are dragon spruces, dubbed as “national treasure”. They belong to an ancient plant species dating back to the Cretaceous Period. They are tall and exuberant, with an age of about 400 to 500 years. They are widely regarded as “living fossil” together with metasequioa and ginkgo.
Cypress Forest is located in the cypress mountain north of Delingha City. It is luxuriant, green and over-shaded. The forest is also dotted by red pillows and flowers. The waterfall hanging on the cliff, bumping water pearls, silver water, shadows of tress are all in perfect harmony and can be seen from a distant mountain. Such a cypress forest in Qaidam Basin offers a real wonder.
