Aberdeen Bay maintains the characteristic of a traditional fishing village of the 1800s. The village is still the home for hundreds of fishermen. Fishing boats ranging from the traditional Chinese sailing boats to the luxuriously furnished modern ships fill the bay. Tours of the bay by sampan are available. Many visitors come here only for the seafood, which is authentic and tasty.

During the Opium War, Kowloon Park was the base for Kowloon, Kuan Yung Emplacements built by Lin Zexu, which became a barrack for British army later. Built into a park by the Counsel, it is a “green lung” for Kowloon Peninsula now.
It attracts visitors by its strange plants, rare animals and Chinese classical garden design. Beside the road in the garden, there is a series of brand-new shops called Park Lane. What’s more, a garden was built on the roof of the shops and combined with the garden, which is very special.

The Space Museum consists of three halls, the Exhibition Hall, Sun Hall and Astronomy Hall. Each of them has exhibitions relatived to space science. For example, in the Astronomy Hall, there are regular changed Astronomy movies projected by the first OMNIMAX film projector in Asia, which give you a chance to experience the mysterious and endless universe.

The physical feature of Lantau Mountain is with high elevation on southwest and low one on northeast. Its main peak, Phoenix Mountain has an altitude of 935 meters, which is the second highest peak in Hong Kong.
As a mountainous area, there is only a small piece of land that is flat along the mountain stream. The most crowded place of the island is Tai O Town in the southwest. Ever since 70’s, lots of Hong Kong residents have preferred to visit Lantau Island and play and rest there on weekends and holidays. Therefore, Tai O Town is busy and prosperous now.

Kowloon Walled City Park was the military base for Qing dynasty. After a series of historic events, such as the lease of New Territories to British, the lost of Qing’ governing right for Hong Kong and the occupation of Japanese on the area, Kowloon Walled City became a vacuum of civil order and then a nest of social problems like crimes, population, bad environment and hygiene and so on. Until 1984 when China and Britain signed on the Joint Statement, a decision was made to clear the Walled City by Hong Kong Government, which took effect in1993. Then the Kowloon Walled City Park was built on the original area which was officially opened to the public in 1995. In the park, there are small bridges and running water, Chinese gardens and historic relics of Kowloon Walled City.

The Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees, located in Lam Tsuen Valley, New Territories, are two big banyan trees. Situated near the Tin Hau Temple built around the era of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), it is one of the most popular shrines in Hong Kong.

The two banyan trees are considered as gods by the locals who usually make wishes to the two trees by burning joss sticks. Later, they wrote their wishes on the joss paper, tied it to an orange and then threw them up to the banyan trees to hang it onto the tree’s branch. It is believed that if they succeed, their wishes will come true. As years passing by, this practice has posed giving away threat to these two trees and one of the branch fell down and injured two people in 2005. Therefore, for helping these trees recover and flourish, the wooden racks are set up by the authorities to take place of the banyan trees for hanging the joss papers since February 2005.

Suntin Village built several hundred years ago in the Northwest District of New Territories is the gathering place for people with the family name of Wen. The earliest citizens from Sichuan province moved to Jiangxi in Southern Song Dynasty, and their descendants continued their journey to Suntin in Guangdong. There are a lot of ancient buildings here, and Qifeng Wengong Ancestral Hall and Tai Fu Tai are enlisted in the array of historic relics by the local government. After rebuilding, they are opened to the public. The mansions and ancestral halls are at the same time physical evidences for researchers.

The design of Bank of China Tower resembles growing bamboo which symbolizes the continual development of Bank of China. And its triangular geometrical shape looks like several blue crystals laying on each other. It is said that according to geomancy, its shape is a sharp leaping hook waving outwards, which create great lethality to the nearby buildings including the former Governor’s House.
