Shaolin Temple is china’s famous temple, and Chan sect. It is located at the foot of Shaoshi Mountain and got its name from its location. Shaolin Temple has a reputation for its Zen Buddhism and Shaolin Gongfu, which is the main attraction of the scenery spot. Shaolin Temple was built for Indian monk Patuo in 495, or 19 of the Yaihe year in the Northern Wei Dynasty by Xiaowen Emperor .
Shaolin was built against the hills. In the period of its great prosperity, seven buildings lined the central line of the temple, but in the war among warlords in the period of Kuomingtang, some main buildings were burnt by Shisanyou, including the Hall of Heavenly King, the Abbot’s room and the Hall for preaching the Buddhist doctrines and the Bell Tower and many precious Buddhist sutras pugilism charts were destroyed as well. In the late 20th century, Shaolin Temple was rebuilt to the old system.
The stone tablets in Shaolin Temple are also well known, which are mainly in the Ciyun Hall, or the Tablet Passage. About 120 pieces of handwriting works are stored here, dating from the Northern Qi Dynasty. Many famous masters, such as Caijing, Mipei, Zhao Meng Fu and Dong Qichang, ever left their handwriting here.
Tower Forest is where the monks were buried. The one in Shaolin Temple is the biggest in China, 232 all together. It is of great value in the study of Buddhism scriptures, buildings and Zen Buddhism.
Besides, some other famous places include the Buddhist Convent, built in memory of Damo Buddhist meditating facing the wall; Damo Cave and the Sweet Dew Tower, where Batuo ,the founder for the Shaolin Temple, translated the sutras.
In addition to the visit to the historic buildings, Shaolin would give performance of Shaolin gongfu, which will broaden your outlook and let you have a taste of the charm of Shaolin martial arts.
Chinese Kungfu:Chinese is a general designation of Chinese Wushu and Gongfu, a culture developed from the long practice in life and the knowledge of the body. It’s a traditional precious heritage, and at the same time a special sport of great value.
With China’s reform, Chinese Gongfu has spread over the world. To promote its development worldwide, the Olympic Committee has included Chinese Wushu in the events of the 2000 Sydney Olymipcs.
Luohe River rises from Guanju Mountain in Luonan County in Shaanxi Province. The river flows east through Xiong’er County in Shaanxi, Lushi, Luoning and Yiyang counties in Henan and joins Yi River in the east of Luoyang City and flows northeast into Gong County and flows into Yellow River. Luohe River is 453 km long and has a drainage area of more than 12,000 sq km. Luohe River is reputed as the “warm river” because the river doesn’t freeze in winter. Luohe used to be an important water way in the past. Nowadays, Luohe River is still crystal clear and is the only river which has not been polluted in Henan Province now. The scenery of green mountains along the river is very beautiful.
Bamboo rafting on Luohe River starts at Mayiling Village in Mokou Township and ends at Jiangcao Village in Hengjian Township. The whole rafting distance is 7 km, and it takes 1 hour and a half to finish the rafting. There is a special rafter who steers the raft for the tourists, so the tourists can enjoy the scenes along the winding river, which is sometimes quiet and sometimes rushing. In short, bamboo rafting on Luohe River is a perfect way for people to escape from the busy life in big cities and enjoy the nature.
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/

Ebo Tai, the first star observatory of China is 1.5 kilometers from Shangqiu Ancient Town. According to records in historical books and folktales, in remote antiquity, Qi, the son of Emperor Ku, stayed here to operate kindling spark so that people could use fire at any time (That is why people called him God of Fire). Also, he observed the orbit of Mars in order to inform people to prevent disasters and plant seeds and gather in corn on time. When the Taisui Star appeared during Maoshi, it was called Danyu. When it appeared during Jiawu, it was called Yufeng. Maoshi referred to morning, and Jiawu is the first in the Heavenly Stems. Thus Danyu and Yufeng attracted much of people’s attention. As time passes, Qi, who observed the relation between Mars and Taisui star and their locations, was called “Ebo” by people at that time. After his death, people buried him in the high place where he observed Mars. Later, people call his tome as Ebo Tai or Mars Tai or Huosheng Tai.
The Ebo Tai preserved today is of tomb shape, 35 meters high, with a 270-meter-circumference. It was built of ramming clay. Tiles and pottery were among tier upon tier of ramming clay, which might come from Han Dynasty. Because of the sand and mud sludge of the Yellow River, the original Ebo Tai is dimly visible under the present one.
The dune under Ebo Tai is the place which Ebo conferred as Shangqiu. This is the way Shangqiu gaining its name. Erecting on the plain which stretches to the horizon, it looks much taller and loftier. It is the highest point in the ancient Shangqiu towns, along with the thought of ancient people that Ebo Tai complied with Shang Star; it has been regarded as the symbol of Shangqiu since ancient times.
On it stands the Ebo Temple, which is architecture of Yuan Dynasty. The temple consists of audience hall, worshipping hall, the eastern and western Buddhist gates, wing-suites, and bell tower. The hall is resplendent magnificent, and it is a typical national architecture style. It has been renovated for several times since Ming and Qing Dynasty. And in 1981, it was repaired again. Every year, on the 7th day of the 5th lunar month, people in this area will come here and worship. People called it “Chao Tai”, and it lasts until the 2nd day of the2nd lunar month. People who come here for worshipping in this period come up to tens of thousands of people.
As one of museums built earlier in China, Henan Museum has developed from Henan Province Museum.
Henan Museum Preparatory Committee was established in July,1927, deciding that the museum was located in the Three Saints Temple Street, Kaifeng city.
It regained its name as Henan Museum on December 1,1930.
From the 1960s to the 1980s, Henan Province Museum became one of the country’s famous museums through donation, excavation and allocation, further enriching the heritage collections for exhibitions to promote socialist construction, and making notable achievements in scientific research. In the early 1990s, along with the constant development of reform and opening up, the concern and support of leaders at all levels, new hall of it was built on Nongye Road, Zhengzhou city with the investment of 300 million yuanRMB from he State and renamed as Henan Museum.
New hall of the museum was formally opened on May 1, 1998. During the first five years, under the leadership of the party committees and efforts of all staffs, the museum has made remarkable achievements in exhibitions, collection of cultural relic, scientific research and mass work, making a positive contribution to the socialist spiritual civilization.
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/

The foursquare Pingliang Terrace is five meters high, covers an area of 100 mu. With a history of more than 4,600 years, the relic of the ancient citiy of Pingliang Terrace is just Wanqiu. It is the earliest ancient city unearthed in China currently. The Chenfengwanqiu, Dongmenzhifen, er’yazhushu and Jinshu of The Book of Songs, the first poetry anthology in China, all have records of Pingliang Terrace. According to the records of the history records and geographical analyses, Pingliang Terrace is just the ancient Wanqiu, where the relic of Taihao situated and Shennong lived. With the longest history and largest area, the most well-preserved ancient city has important values and meanings of some important academic issues, such as the emerging of the ancient city in China, the origins of our country, the early period of slavery, etc. Numerous precious cultural relics are unearthed in this place, including the tool of production, articles of daily use, decorations, they were used by hominid. Lots of spoors of the earthen houses where hominid lived and the relics of kilns where hominid made potteries are found in the relic of this ancient city. Combining with cultural literature, archeologists have analyzed and tested the numerous unearthed cultural relics; they all agree that the relic of the ancient city of Pingliang Terrace and the relic of Wanqiu of Taixu are just the same place. Thus, the histories of “The Chenwei Relic of Taihao” and “The Yan Emperor Shennong Built the Capital in Chen” are approved in the first step.
This temple is shrouded in legend and mystery. The origin of martial arts, the origin of kung fu are part of the mystique of Shaolin Temple and the Shaolin monks. This is probably the most famous temple in China, not only because of its long history and its role in Chinese Buddhism, but also because of its martial arts or Wushu. There is a theatre here which presents the famous Kungfu Show at 1030, 1130, 1330, 1430, 1530, and1630. It’s best to get there early, as it is only a small theatre with about 200 seats-by Angela
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/

It was originally called Tianning Temple, built in the later Zhou Dynasty. It has a history of over 1,000 years. Wenfeng Tower is different from ordinary towers. This tower is bigger in the upper part and smaller in the lower part, odd-shaped.

This tower is 38 meters high, the tower body is octagonal and it has five stages. This tower is made of bricks, sculptured patterns on the red bricks. The content of the patterns are mainly some Buddhism stories. There is a small doliform shaped Tasha, and it is similar with the White Tower of Beihai in Beijing. On the tower, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of ancient An’yang.
Historical Background
Over a thousand years ago, the area of the present-day Long Ting (“Dragon Pavilion”) Park in Kaifeng, Henan Province, was the Office of the Border General of the Xuanwu Army of the Tang (CE 618-907) Dynasty. During the Later Liang (CE 907-923) Dynasty of the Five Dynasties (CE 907-960) period, the site was reconstructed into the imperial palace and named Jiangchang Palace. During the Later Jin (CE 936-946), Later Han (CE 947-950) and Later Zhou (CE 951-960) Dynasties, the site was still the imperial palace, but under a different name: Daning Palace. During the Northern Song (CE 960-1127) Dynasty, a forbidden imperial palace was built here, and thus the area became inaccessible and declined in importance.
During the later years of the Jin (CE 1115-1234) Dynasty, the area became a regular, open-access imperial palace again. During the Ming (CE 1368-1644) Dynasty, Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang’s fifth son, Zhu Di, constructed his own house, called Prince Zhou’s Mansion, in the vicinity, increasing the area’s prime importance. However, due to flooding caused by the nearby Yellow River, the imperial palace, which in the meantime had become a repository for memorial tablets dedicated to former emperors – to which government officials were required to make regular visits – was no longer suitable as a repository for the memorial tablets, due to its low-lying locality, and therefore a new repository, Wanshou (“Longevity”) Palace, was constructed to house the memorial tablets. This explains the peculiar form of Longevity Palace, i.e., a pavilion atop a 13-meter high, flood-proof stone structure. It was at about this same time that Longevity Palace began to be called Dragon Pavilion.
Present-Day Dragon Pavilion Park
As the main scenic site of Kaifeng, Dragon Pavilion Park totals more than 80 hectares, half of which is water area. The park consists primarily of two lakes – Family Pan Lake and Family Yang Lake. For some strange reason, the Family Pan Lake is muddy while the latter is clear, which people have likened to the characters of two officials who served during the Northern Song (CE 960-1127) Dynasty: Pan Renmei, a treacherous official; and Yang Jiye, an honest one.
The architectural highlights of Long Ting Park include Wu (“Noon”) Gate, Yudai (“Jade Belt”) Bridge, the Chao (“Wise, Benevolent Spirit”) Houses on either side of Imperial Road, Long (“Dragon”) Pavilion, Chaomen Gate, the ruins of the Northern Song Dynasty Imperial Palace, Monument Pavilion, North Gate, and East Gate. Dragon Pavilion is an immense hall built atop an imposing, 13-meter high, flood-proof stone structure that has a moderately-sloped, 72-step stone staircase leading up to the entrance. In the center of the hall stands a large dragon carving. The hall’s ceiling is decorated with yellow glazed tiles, reinforcing the link to China’s imperial past, as yellow was the favorite color of emperors. On either side of Dragon Pavilion are placed eight Chao Rooms, which, together with the palatial courtyard, form an impressive whole. The pavilion also houses a Waxwork Hall that exhibits vivid waxwork likenesses of prominent personages.
