The Nanxishan Hill Park, with the Nanxishan Hill standing in and the Nanxi River passing through, is located in south Guilin, one km from the railway station.
The Nanxishan Hill, at an altitude of 291 meters, with its two peaks erecting facing each other, seems like two white screens. The Longji Pavilion between the two peaks is a good place to gain a bird’s eyes view of south Guilin. Nanxishan Hill was first explored by Li Bo, an officer in Tang Dynasty. His existing stone inscription “A Farewell to Nanxi” and “A Poem to Nanxishan Hill” which recorded his experience in exploring the Nanxishan Hill over 1000 years ago is still in the cave of the Nanxishan Hill.
The caves in the Nanxishan Hill Park are renowned for their large quantity and grotesque shape, among which the White Dragon Carve on the northern hillside is the most famous. The entrance of the cave is high and wide opened, like a huge stone house. It is named the White Dragon Cave is because the stones in it is white and the stagmalite hung on the entrance seems like a Dragon’s head. The White Dragon Cave, 499.5 meters long and with a total area of 1828 square meters, is the longest and widest cave in the Nanxishan Hill. Illuminated, the limestone containing minerals appears like lions, jade bamboo shoot, agate and so on. Besides, the Chuanyun Cave, Guanyin Cave, Xuan Cave are also very beautiful.
The bridge spanning the Nanxi River is called White Dragon Bridge, built in 1965. It is a miniature model of the famous Zhaojia Bridge built in Sui Dybasty, 30 meters long and 5.5 meters wide. Made in terrazzo and with five open bridge pavilions on it, the bridge well displays the features of ancient Chinese bridge. The White Dragon Spring by the bridge is very limpid and sweet which is perfect for making Chinese tea.
It was said that long ago, there was a very big and thick rattan traversing the river, sinking in the daytime but floating at night for people to hold to cross. That’s why the gorge is called Big Rattan Gorge. Screened alongside by high mountains stretching in an unbroken chain, the forty- kilometer gorge features zigzag watercourse, torrential river flow, spreading-all-over dangerous shoals, and beautiful scenery. In the ancient times, the gorge was the cradle and base for the Yao, Zhuang and Han Peasant Uprisings of the Ming Dynasty.
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/

Through more than a thousand years, Yangmei ancient town was prosperous for the developing of waterway transportation but also depressed for it. Built in Song dynasty and developed in Ming dynasty, it met the most prosperous time in Qing dynasty. Even now, it still preserves architectures of Ming and Qing dynasties, such as ancient street, lane, temple, shrine, house, tree, port, Wenwu pagoda, and beacon tower, all of them having an old-fashioned and antique lasting flavor. Entering the town, old houses of Ming and Qing dynasties are presented one by one, as well as other historical relics like Qizhu house, Juren’s (the former second degree candidate in the provincial examination) house, Jinshi’s (the former third degree candidate in the national civil service examination) house, Muyi gate, Jinyue monument, Huang’s garden, old streets and lanes, ancient windows, carving eaves and lichened basement, from which a sense of peace and mildness is pervading.
There were 8 scenic spots which are still addressable in Yangmei, namely the Sunset Reflected on the Dragon Pool, Green Trees on Thunder Peak, Sword in the Spring, Pavilion Facing the River, Moon Night on the Beach, Medication on the Slope, Rosy Clouds Watching in the Pavilion and the Sound of Beach and Pine Forest. Walking along the beach, Yangmei wonder stones appraised by the traveler Xu Xiake in Ming dynasty can be found here or there, like steeple stone, penguin stone, golden frog stone, sea lion looking back stone, horse stone, dolphin kissing stone, all of them with their fantasies and stories. Being 15.3 meters in height, its main building is in the shape of a square like an imperial seal, thus called the Imperial Seal. With a majestic appearance, Kuixing Tower is not only a precious historic relic, but also an important memorial for the 1911 Revolution.
Yangmei Ancient TownIn addition, there are two historical relics in the ancient town. One is the former residence on Jinma Street for the revolutionists, Liang Zhitang and Liang Lieya, leaders of the 1911 Revolution. It was the secret place for meetings of Zhengnanguan Revolution leaded by Sun Yet-sun, the first president of the Republic of China. The other one is Kuixing Tower built in the first year of Qinglong period of Qing dynasty (1736 A.D.).
Located in the lower reaches of the Zuojiang River, the ancient town is surrounded by a river at three sides. About 30 kilometers away from the capital city Nanning, it has a convenient transport both by water and by land. Started from Nanning, the boat will enter the Zuojiang River after operating on the Yongjiang River for above 30 kilometers, and then arrive at Yangmei ancient town.
Li River, Taohua River, Mulong Lake, Guihu Lake, Ronghu Lake and Shanhu Lake make up the scenery area of Two Rivers and Four Lakes. Guihu Lake, Ronghu Lake and Shanhu Lake dates back from the Song Dynasty. The place where the Mulong Lake is was ever a piece of land. To recover the beauty of the round-the- city water system, Guilin municipal Party committee and Government decided in 1998 to connect the lakes, clean the river bed, build bridges and repair roads. The project of Two River and Four Lakes was started at that time. The Two River and Four Lakes nowadays connect rivers and lakes with various attractions. The lake banks are paved with slabe covered in lush trees, convenient for travelers to walk and enjoy the scenery. The night scene of the lakes and rivers are particularly charming when the area is colorfully lit. At night, cruise bottles shuttle to and fro on the lakes, travelers and local strollers walk around , folk artist give performance on the lake bank to passerby.
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/
