Nanhai Temple, also called Poluo Temple, is an important and sacred place for ancient people exploring the Southern China Sea. It is an important site of ancient Chinese transportation and overseas trade as well as the starting point of the marine Silk Route. It is the only architectural heritage remained among the Donghai Temple, Nanhai Temple, Xihai Temple and Beihai Temple in ancient China. Nanhai Temple is an important historic site of China’s foreign trade in ancient times (Guangzhou is the starting point of the marine Silk Route).

Nanhai Temple, with a history of 1400 years, was built at the 14th year of the first emperor of the Sui Dynasty. Every emperor sent officials to hold a memorial ceremony there since the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. Therefore, the temple has many valuable inscriptions and is honored as the “Forest of Southern Steles”.

The Bajia Scenic Area is 60 kilometers west of the urban areas of Yangchun. The main peak E’huang rises at a height of 1337 meters above sea level. The mountain has luxuriant woods and a large number of exotic flowers and grass with high ornamental values. 32 plants under the protection of the state has been found in this mountain, including Tigridiopalma, Euryodendron, upas, camellia azalea, dunnia sinensis, Apterosperma oblate Chang, etc; there are also 12 species of plants peculiar to China such as D. stachyanthus Hand, which account for one fourth that of Guangdong Province; there are also rare species that haven’t be named and proclaimed yet. The Bajia E’huang Peak as a provincial-level nature reserve has passed the evaluation and review of experts.
There is a celestial pool covering an area of 160 thousand square meters on the mountain. It can hold 24180000 cubic meters of water. The water is of high quality and tastes slightly sweet. There are pleasure boats coming and going on the surface of the pool, which forms the marvelous spectacle of “taking a boat on the top of the mountain”. Between the mountains, there are waterfalls pouring down, sounding like the clap of thunder. The Bajia waterfall is reputed as the “first waterfall in Guangdong”. It has a total length of 470 meters and a drop of 248 meters. It can be heard within five kilometers and can be seen within ten kilometers. The Bajia Scenic Area has abundant rain water, excessive clouds and mists and magnificent sceneries.

There are several tourist attractions on the island. Longshui (Dragon water) Peak, the highest peak on Donghai Island, also the only mountain ridge in the scenic spot, is one of the 56 volcanic cones in Zhanjiang and it looks like a flying dragon. Naozhou Island formed by volcanic eruption faces the tourist resort across the sea. The ancient lighthouse on Naozhou Island is one hundred years old and is one of the only two crystal prism lighthouses in the world.
Tourists have a lot to do in the resort. It is great to enjoy the clean sea water and the soft and clean sand, which is good for a sand bath as the minerals in the sand is good for human skin and it even helps cure one’s skin diseases. It is also very relaxing to have a hot bath in the bathing pools connected with the underground hot springs in the scenic spot. These pools are usually in the hotels and the holiday villas.
Tourists can take a rest in the Coconut Palm Forest Garden, enjoy the sea view and taste the delicious local food. They can also enjoy flying light planes, gliding, riding motorboat in the sea and car racing on the beach, or even try drawing the net with the fishermen.
It is also convenient to stay in the resort. About 30 hotels in the area can provide accommodation for 2,000 people.

The Guizhu Garden is quite and unique. There are a lot of trees in it. Climb up the mountain along the steps and stop halfway. The Xianhu Ancient Temple is situated at the east side of the steps. There is a hall in the west. A natural huge stone is used as its roof. It can hold nearly one hundred people. It’s the Guizhu Garden Rock. The legendary “Footprint of Celestial Being” is situated here. Walk about one hundred meters north from here and you can see the Tomb of Ding Richang. The Shuiliu River Reservoir is located on the west side of the tomb. It is surrounded on three sides by mountain. The water is so clear that you can see your reflection in it. The Lotus Pavilion is halfway up the hill near the reservoir. Cross the pavilion and climb up the Tianluo Peak. You arrive at the Tomb of Jisan. His real name is Chen Shou. He is an upright official in the Yuan Dynasty. He died when he was in office. People buried his robe and boots here in honor of him. The Longzhuma Temple is about one kilometer north to the Liushui River. In it, spring continuously flows out from the Longquan Hole. The back mountain is covered with pines and bamboos. The Guizhu Garden is a magnet for visitors.

Lan Pu(Orchid Garden) is a good place to watch orchids. The garden is divided into the east part and the west part. The west part of the park consists of Fanghua Garden and Mingjing Garden and the east part are mainly orchid gardens to cultivate different varieties of orchids.

The orchid garden is cool and quiet with winding paths and corridors, fish pool and flower sheds, green grass and artificial mountains. The major attractions there are temples, pavilions and gardens.

Travelers can take a rest and sip tea in the clean and elegant Xi Yin Pavilion that has been newly decorated and is now surrounded by trees.
Lan Pu is a good place to see flowers, observe fish and taste tea.

“Torrent”, which is pronounced “Long” in Chinese, refers to the narrow and long channel section with sudden fall; “Current”, pronounced as “Tan” in Chinese, means where the river bottom is broad and the water runs rapidly. When drifting in the river, the hovercraft is sometimes hold high by the rushing waves and suddenly flung down, leaving you with a deep impression. It is located at a vertical crook place of the Lianjiang River, the green gardens and old dwellings line up on each side and mountains are erect.
