Rock carving is one of the oldest fashions of painting; it was a spontaneous way for the ancients to depict the surrounding environment. The Heshan Stone Carvings are one of the kinds. They are a few meters elevated from the hillside of the valley. Although vary in magnitude, they generally stretch out from 0.2 to 2.4 meters long and 0.3 to 3.0 meters wide.

The carvings are incredibly simple yet vivid and intensively expressive. The carvings that centered on humans revealed ancient lives from dancing to hunting, from shooting to horse-riding, from military training to camel riding. The ones pivoting animals portrayed lively scenes such as tigers chasing after cows and sheep.
Among all, the carving of dancing scenes was the most impressive work with amazingly vivid characters radiating emotions, dynamics, passion, joy and even musical rhythm of the time. People were dancing in lines or circles surrounding their herds and animal accompaniers.

No scenes of farming or weapons of swords or spears were found in these carvings indicating that these ancients had a very high probability of being nomads who had no permanent residence and moved from places to places following weather and the seasonal changes in search for food, water and gazing lands. They wore robes and hats with feathers.

According to some anthropological investigation, these carvings to some extend revealed strong desires and passion of the ancient herdsmen for spiritual living and development. They dated back to the times of the ancient Qiang, and they are extremely valuable for archeological and anthropological research.
“Langmu” in Tibetan means a beautiful “fairy”. The name is from that there is a stone which looks like a slim beautiful “fairy”. In local folk legends, it is said the stone is changed from the slim beautiful “fairy”. And there was once a tiger’s den hidden in the deep woods behind the temple. In Tibetan the den means Dehecang”. So the literal meaning of Langmu Temple means that a slim beautiful “fairy” standing in a tiger’s den.
The Langmu Temple and Geerdi Temple in Sichuan Province which are opposite each other across White Dragon river once were very famous and were in a great fashion for a long period in history. However, it was a sorrowful pity that the Temple was destroyed in the year 1969. At present, the Temple has been rebuilding year by year gradually.
There is a mountain in front of the Temple, which is looked like a monk’s cat. Red cliffs made of grit stones are towering in the east of the Temple and rock peaks are towering in the west of the Temple, which are craggy and rugged. There are very large verdant pine forests down the mountains.
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/

Huangniangniangtai Terrace also called Yinfurentai Terrace is located Songjiayuan Village, Jingyang Town, 2.5 kilometers northwest of Wuwei City. Yinfuren, the wife of Lisi, King of Western Liang during Eastern Jin, made great contribution to the foundation of Northern Liang.
So people also call the Regime of Western Liang as “”the Regime of Li and Yin””. The ancient site of the Huangniangniangtai Terrace is 500m long from west to east and 250m wide from south to north with a cultural wall of from 0.62m to 2.3m. Nine ancient buildings surrounded by kilned archway were unearthed.
There are three different kilned archways the circle shaped, the oval shaped and the rectangle shaped. A number of relics including stone wares, bone corner bracket, bronze wares, among which the potteries are the largest in number, were unearthed. The swords and the awls are red bronze, caved or forged. The number of funeral objects in different tombs is different. The jade axes and jade gems, representing right and wealth, were also unearthed in the relics. It fairly stated that the people had entered late New Stone Age, a period the usage of bronze wares and stone wares.
We uses YouTube API Services. https://www.worldtraveldb.com/youtubes-terms-of-service/

Brief introduction
Yuquan Taoist Temple was first built in 1281 of the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368), collapsed, destroyed and rebuilt several times. Yuquan Taoist Temple was once named as Chengbei (northern city) Temple, Chongning and Guashan temples. When the local officials submitted a statement to ask the court to build a Taoist temple here, they referred to the place as a famous mountain with a jade spring. So the temple was called Yuquan (jade spring) Taoist Temple later.
Yuquan Taoist Temple is located in the northwestern part of Qincheng (ancient Tianshui), within the Yuquanguan Park. With graceful cypresses towering above, and some great views of Qincheng below, the temple, and the park form a peaceful and pretty ambience. The main constructions in the temple include the Pavilion of Jade Emperor (Supreme Deity of Taoism), Sanqing Temple, and some large-scale grand Taoist building groups built around. Most of the buildings were built against the mountain and face south.
Yuquan Temple is located up on the main hill of the park, with long stone steps leading up to the temple gate. After entering the gate are the two small temples of the sun and the moon and the two halls of black dragon and the white tiger (the black dragon and the white tiger are two immortals in the Taoist legendary). Crossing the two halls, you can see the Pavilion of Jade Emperor, and on the stele hung on the gate of the pavilion are four Chinese characters meaning “Heaven and earth — a world of difference”.
On both sides of the Pavilion are the halls of two Taoist immortals, Leizhu and Sanguan. The main hall here is the Hall of Lord Lao [Chinese philosopher of the late Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC) and the founder of Taoism], where the statues of the Taoist deities are set. In front of the hall is a jade spring (Yu Quan). It is said the water in the spring can cure eye illness, thus the spring is also called “Bright-eye” Spring.

The Jiayuguan Pass was one of great strategic importance. The existing Jiayuguan Pass walls were built in the time of Ming Dynasty. The construction of these walls began in 1372. It was not until 1539 that the they became a complete defense system, which had three defense lines, the entrenchment, the outer wall, and the inner wall.
The inner wall is 10.7 meters high and encloses a city section of about 25,000 square meters. It has two gates, namely the Rouyuan Gate in the west and the Guanghua Gate in the east (Rouyuan means appeasement and Guanghua means brilliance in Chinese). Both of the two gates have defensive enclosure structures.
On the walls there are 14 pavilions. Inside the wall, there are also many spots of interest, such as the General’s Mansion, the Well Pavilion, and Wenchang Pavilion. Outside the eastern gate, there is a Guanyu’s Temple (in honor of General Guanyu who lived in the period of Three Kingdoms), a memorial archway, and an opera tower. The overall layout of the section in the inner wall is integrated and well-organized.
The walls at the Jiayuguan Pass linked with the Great Wall, formed a strongly fortified defensive system. There are many legends concerning the construction of the walls: “goats carrying bricks on their backs”, “the foundation brick”, “transporting wall stones on an icy path”. All of these stories give people a sense of mystery.
